WOW The Transmogable Helms
I thought maybe we could just take a moment and chat about the new transmogable helms that were added to the Blizzard store. When these cosmetic items were initially mentioned, the reactions were mixed. Some players felt that a subscription based game should not be selling in-game items for money, others argued that if you don’t like them don’t buy them, and the rest were looking forward to showing off their cool new transmog helms.
Well, now they are live and the vast majority of reactions involve anger in some form. These helms cost $15 each, which is a little expensive in my honest opinion. I’ve been trying my best to stay absolutely neutral because I had absolutely no intentions of purchasing a helm – so really this shouldn’t apply to me whatsoever – and yet my mind has been racing with where Blizzard could take this.
World Of Warcraft Has A Subscription!!!
The first bit of anger I wanted to talk about was the subscription with a cash shop argument, and honestly I get it. When you are already paying your $15 a month, it feels a little off to be adding items to a cash shop. With that being said, World of Warcraft is not the first game to do this. I can think of at least three other games that I played that had subscriptions and a cash shop right from the beginning. What is it about Warcraft that makes this seem so wrong for people?
I personally couldn’t care less about WoW having a subscription and a cash shop. They’ve been selling mounts and pets on there for years now, and I have yet to feel forced to purchase one.
